The cost of microcontrollers and microprocessors has fallen to the point where adding intelligent control to products is quite affordable.  Motorola, TI MSP430, and Atmel microcontrollers can now be purchased in the $2 to $3 range with some for less than a dollar.  A PCB with intelligent control and a few simple I/Os can be manufacturered for $5 to $10.

However, the cost of implementing a design can be quite high due to the expertise and tools required to successfully implement a design.   We can take care of this and make the total cost of project reasonable so that you can incorporate intelligent control into your end product.
